Aviation

Cabin and passenger interface solutions for aviation.

Aircraft cabin controls face millions of passenger activations, aggressive cleaning cycles, vibration, and zero tolerance for maintenance-related delays. From passenger call buttons and armrest controls to lavatory flush panels and galley interfaces, RNC solid-state technology delivers the durability and hygiene that cabin environments demand.

Cabin applications

Where piezo sensing fits in the aircraft cabin.

Passenger controls
Call buttons, reading lights, seat recline, IFE. Sealed, consistent across the full aircraft lifecycle.
Lavatory controls
Flush, faucet, lock. Fully sealed against moisture and cleaning chemicals. Programmable hygiene flush.
Galley and crew
Galley equipment, crew call, and service controls. Withstands continuous cleaning and high-frequency use.
Overhead and cabin panels
Overhead buttons, signage, reading light controls. Flush integration into cabin trim.

Why solid-state piezo for aircraft cabin controls.

No mechanical failure mode
No moving parts means no contact bounce, no dome fatigue, no actuation force drift. 50 million activations with consistent performance.
Vibration and shock resistant
Solid-state construction is inherently immune to vibration-induced wear, loosening, or false activation.
Sealed and hygienic
IP69K sealed. Withstands aggressive cabin disinfectants, lavatory cleaning agents, and high-pressure cleaning cycles.
Ultra-low power
Under 10 microamps in standby. Critical for aircraft power budgets where every milliamp matters across hundreds of cabin control points.
Cleaning chemical resistant
Post-COVID cleaning protocols use aggressive disinfectants applied multiple times per turnaround. Piezo controls are chemically inert.
Qualification readiness

Built for the certification path.

RNC's cabin interface components are designed with aviation qualification requirements in mind, including RTCA DO-160 environmental testing categories, FAR 25.853 flammability requirements, and ABD0031/AITM material standards. While certification is application-specific and driven by the Tier 1 integrator, the technology platform is engineered to support the qualification process.

Material selection considers fire, smoke, and toxicity (FST) compliance per FAR/CS 25.853 and ABD0031. Environmental performance is validated across temperature, vibration, humidity, and altitude ranges relevant to DO-160 cabin environment categories. Documentation and traceability follow AS9100 aerospace quality management expectations.

FST material awareness
Component materials selected with fire, smoke, and toxicity compliance requirements in mind.
Environmental testing
Validated across temperature (-40C to +85C), vibration, humidity, and shock ranges relevant to cabin environments.
Documentation and traceability
Full material and process traceability. Test data and documentation structured to support Tier 1 qualification submissions.
Proven in demanding industries
Technology platform proven in automotive (OEM series approved), public transport, and sanitary applications with extensive field reliability data.
