Appliances & White Goods

Premium interface solutions for appliances and white goods.

Appliance controls take thousands of hits per year from wet hands, cleaning products, and steam. They need to look premium on day one and still work correctly after years of daily use - without a gasket to replace or a button to jam.

Key challenge
Design freedom with sealed controls and premium surface integration
Key technology

What appliance controls face every day.

Appliance controls take daily punishment from heat, steam, condensation, cooking splatter, and cleaning agents. In a kitchen, a control panel may be wiped down multiple times per day with everything from mild soap to aggressive degreasers. Steam from boiling water, open ovens, and dishwasher cycles creates persistent humidity directly at the control surface. In laundry applications, vibration from spin cycles and detergent residue add mechanical and chemical stress. Users interact with wet hands, greasy hands, and cleaning-product-covered hands. The interface must look premium on day one and maintain both function and appearance after years of this daily cycle.

What matters most

Priorities for appliance interfaces.

Design freedom
Controls disappear into the surface. No bezels, no overlays, no break in the design language.
Premium surfaces
Stainless, glass, or custom materials become the control panel.
Sealed and hygienic
Fully sealed against steam and cleaning agents. Smooth, easy to sanitize.
Built to last
50M+ activations. No moving parts, no wear, no maintenance.
Works wet
Wet hands, greasy hands, cleaning products. No false touches.
Surface integration
Modules mount behind your surface. No visible hardware.

Why solid-state piezo for appliances and white goods.

Unified fascia design
Piezo senses through the appliance's own surface. Stainless steel, aluminium, glass, or solid surface materials become the control panel. No visible switch bezels or overlays.
Survives steam, moisture, and cleaning
Capacitive panels ghost-trigger in humid conditions. Membrane overlays degrade from chemical exposure. A sealed metal panel is unaffected by any of these.
Advanced interaction patterns
Knock-to-activate, double-knock recognition, press-and-hold, and pattern-based commands through the same sensing element.
Competitive BOM
System-level design eliminates duplicate components and consolidates control functions. Increasingly competitive while enabling capabilities capacitive and membrane cannot offer.
Advanced signal processing

Beyond buttons. The surface becomes intelligent.

Piezo sensing doesn't just detect a press. The signal processing platform interprets how a surface is touched, knocked, or interacted with. This capability is already proven in commercial appliances.

Knock-to-activate
Knock on a closed dishwasher or drawer to open it. No handle, no button.
Pattern recognition
Single vs double knock, short vs long press, tap vs slide. Different patterns, different functions.
Through any material
Stainless, glass, wood, solid surface. Up to 3mm thick. The exterior is the interface.
Handleless design
Flush, handleless appliance fronts. Uninterrupted surfaces until activated.
Key specifications
